Hecht & Bannier Languedoc 2017. I first came across this when a French chum got some for me after a tasting by the Wine Group that he ran at work (a nuclear power station – what could possibly go wrong?) Hecht & Bannier are négociants who have interests in several wine areas in the country and are quite highly regarded. This was a decent value, decent quality everyday drink, a Syrah-Grenache-Carignan mix. Or muscularity, fun and attitude. (That’s all the wine bollocks you are getting.) Then I saw this bottle in a hypermarket wine sale in France in January 2019 priced at just under six euros, which is crazy value. Four years later, still going strong.
