Day 118 – Charlestown
Zind-Humbrecht Muscat Goldert 2017
I’m not quite sure how the cellar logistics foul-up occurred, but I seem to have ended up with two Goldert bottles back-to-back.
-
Day 116 – Oldfield
Ernest Burn Riesling Goldert la Chapelle 2011
I don’t think I’ve covered this particular Burn before. It won’t take long. It’s Riesling, and you know what that tastes like.

Day 110 – Silverdale
Bruno Sorg Pinot Gris Florimont 2016
Sometimes familiarity breeds contempt, I’m ashamed to say. I looked in the holding wine cooler tonight for something to follow cook’s rainbow trout, chips and spring greens and felt a slight twinge of disappointment when I discovered this was the only bottle of white in there.

Day 97 – coming down a little
Domaine Bruno Sorg Riesling Pfersigberg 2015
Another bottle from Sorg, and I’m astonished to find it is only the second I have opened since the walk began.
-
Day 79 – Coldstream
Ernest Burn Gewurtztraminer la Chapelle 2016
Yet another bottle from Ernest Burn. I’m starting run out of things to say about these wonderful wines.
-
Day 51 – Lundin
Ernest Burn Riesling 2016
My third bottle of Burn since I started the virtual walk, following the Vendages Tardives and the Sylvaner.
-
Day 39 – Rosemount
Bruno Sorg Pinot Gris Vieilles Vignes 2017. And back to Alsace again. Sorry. If Burn represents the richly flavoured wines of the region and Mader occupies the centre ground, then Sorg is at the steelier, purer end of the spectrum.

Day 28 – Dirdhu
Ernest Burn Sylvaner le Dauphin 2015. Another lusciously rich wine by Francis Burn, this time made from the workhorse grape of Alsace.
-
Day 14 – Tain
Mader Gewürztraminer Grand Cru Rosacker 2016. As far as white wines go, Alsace is my first choice. I love the different flavours from Gewürz to Riesling and the different styles from austere to rich.

Day 1 – Nybster
Ernest Burn 2007 Muscat Vendages Tardives. I’ve loved Ernest Burn wines ever since first discovering them thirty years ago. Francis Burn is a winemaker of genius and manages to put an added richness in every bottle.
