Boekenhoutskloof Syrah 2017. I went for this in a big way, despite having to correct two spelling mistakes while trying to type the name without looking at the bottle. Being a Rhône bore I’m obviously going to be pre-disposed towards Syrah, but I was keen to see how this compared. Similar – leathery, peppercorny notes. Different – sweeter fruit. Still a deal of tannin and probably even better when tried on a second day. I’ve got a couple more, so perhaps I should wait a while before trying the next. I doubt if I will, though.
